Handicapping Horses

Handicapping Horses. Difficult to do?

I never had time to play the horses until now. If a person follows horses/jockey can they make any money doing this. I think it makes more sense than the stock market. Please advise and thanks.

I will tell you that each winning racehorse can be accounted for very scientifically. Just see if you agree with this: The horse that wins a race is the horse that had the edge in current fitness.

Horses are cyclical in their fitness. You might have heard of the “form cycle” of thoroughbred racehorses. I simply call it their “fitness cycle.” Your only important task in handicapping is to discern where a horse is precisely at in its fitness cycle. Is it ready — specifically ready TODAY for a winning effort? Or, is it yearning to just go back to its stall and wallow in its hay?

Let’s take up jockeys for a moment. My contention is this: They’re all highly professional. Put any one of them on the best horse in a race and they will get that horse home first. Let’s extend this further in a different light. A racehorse can have the greatest trainer/jockey/pedigree combination in the world and still suffer unto its connections a frustrating loss. The only thing wrong with that picture is that this particular horse, on that particular day was not quite up to a winning effort. In other words, the timing of that race was not aligned with the “readiness” points of its fitness cycle.

Handicapping, in it’s greatest essence, is about determining the fitness level of each horse. The horses who are entered in a race when they are at favorable points in their fitness cycle are the ones that bring home the paychecks. The other runners simply have issues with their current fitness, to a greater or lesser degree.

Let me further clarify that what I’m referring to herein has nothing to do with what is popularly known as “the body language of racehorses.” No, I am solely referring to the fitness level of each racehorse. This is the greatest truth to know about any horse, and it can be scientifically determined without ever laying eyes on them.

This has taken me 14 years to research, develop and master. It is now my incomparable edge.

The best of luck to you.
